Dr. Deb Hazzard, MBA, CDE, PASC (she/her) is Founder and Principal Consultant of Strategic Insights Consulting and Coaching, LLC, and a thought-leader who is well-versed in matters related to strategic leadership, sustainability in business, and cross-border collaborations. She provides guidance and training to Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, institutions of higher learning, associations and many other organizations, through collaborations with a vast network of highly skilled, experienced and qualified practitioners. We strive to help address pervasive economic and social inequality that persists across the globe while leading to more ethical, inclusive, socially-responsible and competitive enterprises.

 Dr. Hazzard has more than 20 years of professional experience building and nurturing strategic relationships, forming strategic alliances and championing radical collaborations in both the public and private sector. She has successfully led individuals, teams and organizations through large-scale change management initiatives, thus equipping her with relevant and essential knowledge, skills and experience that have proven beneficial in her current work. 

Dr. Hazzard earned a professional doctorate (DBA) from Georgia State University, an Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Winthrop University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from NC State University. She holds a SHRM People Analytics Specialty Credential (PASC), Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) credential, a ‘Diversity and Inclusion Professional’ certificate from Cornell University  and has completed professional development training presented by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) entitled “Change Management: Leading Successful Transformations” with an emphasis on key competencies to advance macro-level organizational change. 

Dr. Hazzard is also Hogan Personality Assessment certified and is also a Qualified Administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and Intercultural Conflict Styles (ICS) assessment tools. The IDI is the only theory-based assessment of intercultural competence. The customized IDI Individual Profile Reports and the IDI Group Profile Reports present valid, quantitative information that integrates qualitative information about how an individual or group engages cultural difference in their day-to-day interactions with others. The IDI is a valuable developmental tool for building cultural competence while improving the capacity of individuals, teams and organizations to effectively engage across difference.

In addition to serving as Founder at Strategic Insights Consulting and Coaching, LLC, Dr. Hazzard currently serves as the inaugural Associate Dean for Access, Opportunity, and Community Engagement at Darla Moore School of Business (DMSB), University of South Carolina and is a Faculty Fellow in DMSB’s Center for Sustainable Growth. She is also a Full Professor, Management Department, at DMSB where she is the first African-American academic in a leadership role in the 100+- year history of Darla Moore School of Business. Moreover, she is an 2021 inductee into the Richland (SC) School District One Hall of Fame, and recipient of an Alumni in Action award from the Lower Richland High School Foundation.

During her tenure at DMSB, Dr. Hazzard has successfully launched and sustained several impactful initiatives, consistently engages with internal and external stakeholders, and facilitates leadership training and certificate programs for executives and leaders.  Dr. Hazzard works tirelessly to make a positive impact in organizations, classrooms and beyond as she strives to leave people, teams and organizations better than she found them.
